This combination isn’t sold as a single commercial product. Compounding lets us put the ingredients together in one preparation, in the exact strengths and ratio your prescriber orders, so there are fewer separate medications to take or apply.

What is BLT numbing cream?

A strong topical anesthetic combining benzocaine, lidocaine and tetracaine, applied before cosmetic and skin procedures such as injections, laser treatments and tattooing.

At Pharmacy on the Park, BLT numbing cream is compounded in our pharmacy from a prescription, in the strength and form your prescriber orders.

Compounded medications are not FDA-approved. They are prepared for one patient from a valid prescription. Any use may be off-label, and your prescriber decides whether it is right for you.

How does it work?

All three ingredients block sodium channels in nerve endings, stopping pain signals from traveling.

What is it used for?

A strong topical anesthetic combining benzocaine, lidocaine and tetracaine, applied before cosmetic and skin procedures such as injections, laser treatments and tattooing. Your prescriber determines the use, dose and monitoring.

How is it used?

  • Cream. Creams are applied to the area your prescriber directs. Metered dispensers such as Topi-CLICK® deliver the same amount each time. Wash your hands after applying.

Follow the directions on your label. The strength, amount and schedule are set by your prescriber.

Side effects and safety

Commonly reported: Redness, swelling or paleness of the skin. Using too much, on large areas or under a wrap can cause serious reactions affecting the heart or blood oxygen. Call your prescriber or us about any reaction that concerns you.

Who should use caution?

Applying to large areas, broken skin or under a wrap unless directed; people with methemoglobinemia or an allergy to local anesthetics. Keep away from children and pets. Share your full medical history and medication list with your prescriber.

How should it be stored?

Always follow the storage directions and beyond-use date on your label, and keep medications out of reach of children and pets.
