What is Azelaic acid and tranexamic acid melasma cream?
Melasma and dark spots, without hydroquinone. Made with azelaic acid 12%, tranexamic acid 5%, kojic acid 4% and niacinamide 3%.
At Pharmacy on the Park, Azelaic acid and tranexamic acid melasma cream is compounded in our pharmacy from a prescription, in the strength and form your prescriber orders.
How does it work?
Tranexamic acid calms the signals that switch on pigment cells. Azelaic acid and kojic acid slow pigment production, and niacinamide reduces the transfer of pigment to the skin surface.

Side effects and safety
Commonly reported: Stinging, itching, redness or dryness, usually mild and early in treatment. Call your prescriber or us about any reaction that concerns you.
Who should use caution?
Sun exposure, which makes melasma worse. Use sunscreen daily. Share your full medical history and medication list with your prescriber.
How should it be stored?
Always follow the storage directions and beyond-use date on your label, and keep medications out of reach of children and pets.
Why is it compounded?
This combination isn’t sold as a single commercial product. Compounding lets us put the ingredients together in one preparation, in the exact strengths and ratio your prescriber orders, so there are fewer separate medications to take or apply.
This preparation can include: Azelaic acid, Tranexamic acid, Kojic acid, Niacinamide. Your prescriber chooses which ingredients and how much of each.
