What is Hydroquinone 12% melasma cream?
Stubborn melasma and dark spots. A high-strength cream made with hydroquinone 12%, tretinoin 0.05%, niacinamide 2% and hydrocortisone 2.5%.
At Pharmacy on the Park, Hydroquinone 12% melasma cream is compounded in our pharmacy from a prescription, in the strength and form your prescriber orders.
How does it work?
Hydroquinone blocks tyrosinase, the enzyme that makes skin pigment. Tretinoin speeds skin cell turnover and helps hydroquinone work, hydrocortisone calms irritation, and niacinamide reduces the transfer of pigment to the skin surface.
What is it used for?
Stubborn melasma and dark spots. A high-strength cream made with hydroquinone 12%, tretinoin 0.05%, niacinamide 2% and hydrocortisone 2.5%. Your prescriber determines the use, dose and monitoring.
How is it used?
- Cream. Creams are applied to the area your prescriber directs. Metered dispensers such as Topi-CLICK® deliver the same amount each time. Wash your hands after applying.
Follow the directions on your label. The strength, amount and schedule are set by your prescriber.
Side effects and safety
Commonly reported: Irritation, redness, peeling and sun sensitivity. For limited-duration use with close prescriber follow-up. Call your prescriber or us about any reaction that concerns you.
Who should use caution?
Pregnancy. Long-term continuous use, which can darken or thin the skin. Use sunscreen daily. Share your full medical history and medication list with your prescriber.
How should it be stored?
Always follow the storage directions and beyond-use date on your label, and keep medications out of reach of children and pets.

This combination isn’t sold as a single commercial product. Compounding lets us put the ingredients together in one preparation, in the exact strengths and ratio your prescriber orders, so there are fewer separate medications to take or apply.
